NEW PROVINCE-WIDE ROLE FOR OUR CHIEF STEWARD, NICOLE ZWIERS
The provincial Divisional Executive, CAAT-A, has created a new province-wide position: Locals’ Legal Coordinator. Effective immediately, our Chief Steward, Nicole Zwiers, has been chosen for this role for a one-year term. She will improve communications between the 24 college locals’ Chief Stewards, make recommendations for improving our database of past grievances, and analyze current Collective Agreement language to improve our capacity to successfully make arguments before arbitrators.
This new role is of great benefit to us at Durham College in particular. We are privileged to have Nicole’s knowledge and advice available here at our college in all matters pertaining to the protection of our membership. Along with her new role, Nicole will continue in her current role as our Chief Steward here at Durham College.
