Volunteerism

Volunteerism:

Our Collective Agreement states ALL work must be placed on one’s Standard Workload Form (SWF).

At our WMG meeting, management have clearly presented their stand on volunteer work.  Management states that they are not going against the Collective Agreement to ask for volunteers.  If you decide to volunteer, it is not against the requirement to place it on the SWF.

Please do not volunteer.

It is a test towards our solidarity. We feel that many of these ‘requests’ should and must be on your SWF.  If not, you are not required to do so for you and your peers.

IMPORTANT:  Management clearly stated there will be no discipline/consequences if volunteer opportunities are not taken.

Workload is an issue for most of us at Durham College.  One way to reduce your workload, may be to stop volunteering.
