ALL NON-ROUTINE WORK IN MAY-JUNE MUST BE NOTED ON YOUR SWF
Have you been asked to do anything non-routine in the May-June period such as course creation, curriculum review, program mapping, mandatory training, etc? If so, this work must be noted on your SWF. For instance, if your Dean asks you to design a new course in May-June, you should expect to have hours allotted on either a prior or a following SWF, if you don’t receive a SWF for the May-June period. (Note: SWFs are issued for time periods when you have contact with students only).
Our Collective Agreement Article 11.01 D 3 (ix) states “Hours for curriculum review or course development assigned to a teacher on an ongoing basis, in lieu of teaching or in a non-teaching period (emphasis added), shall be attributed on an hour for hour basis and recorded on the SWF.” The exception to this requirement is Professional Development, assuming it is not assigned but rather entered into by mutual agreement.
If you are asked to do anything outside of your routine tasks during the May-June period, ensure this is recorded on your SWF, and if you have any questions or concerns regarding this, approach your Steward or a member of your WMG team, or alternatively, sign-back your SWF asking for review by the WMG group.
