COVID-19 message from your local executive

Dear Colleagues,

As we check the communications from the college from last night and read that classes are cancelled I want to share with you updates we receive from the DC leadership and OPSEU union head office.

Ontario Tech announced yesterday it is beginning to move their courses to online so with the shared campus DC college leadership communicated that they also were cancelling for the next two school days . The college leadership is meeting this morning and further communications will go out to all faculty by midday today to relay more information on next steps and what courses can go online.

The college leadership management team suggest that there is no heightened health issue, but since we share a campus with Ontario Tech, this was their decision to also cancel classes for Friday and Monday. It is important to ensure to check college emails for updates.

REMINDERS

First and foremost to take care and let’s support one another during this time. Some of the faculty were here during SARS and know full well that this will be a challenging time, but let’s take care of one another and support one another.
It will be challenging.

Document workload changes as this progresses for your benefit when this is resolved to process any workload issues.

As we get updates from OPSEU we will have more information on our local webpage, and social media. Also check OPSEU main webpage and personal emails for updates.

There are many questions and concerns that we are communicating from the local to DC leadership and I have asked the college leadership to respond with the emails to all the faculty as we do not have all the partial load emails and to ensure no one misses any updates.

On behalf of OPSEU Local 354 please take it one day at a time and take care.
In Solidarity,

Pat Mongeon
