Please join us Thursday, April 27th, at 6:30 p.m. for our special general membership meeting (GMM) to elect an interim president and vice-president. These positions are currently vacant because of the resignation of our past president Kevin Griffin and the ongoing work of our vice-president Kathleen Flynn at OPSEU head office.
The meeting will once again be hosted on Zoom for your convenience and we’re giving away two $25 Tim’s cards to thank you for taking the time to help us with this important task to get our union executive back up to full strength.
At the moment, our current secretary Phil Raby (Media, Art & Design) has been nominated for president and Whitby steward Mike Keith (STA) has been nominated for vice-president. Other nominations are welcome and may come in before the election Thursday, but without quorum your local executive will be remain short-handed as we work to assist members. If there are no other nominations then the president and VP positions will be acclaimed if we have quorum for the meeting.
These positions will be interim until next year at this time when the normal two-year cycle of elected positions is up.
