Recently, Durham College held job interviews for the position of full-time professor.
Our local union has been pressing management to give preference to partial-load faculty as “internal” candidates under Article 27.11 B of our collective agreement. It has come to our attention that internal candidates (partial load faculty) were interviewed, but none was hired.
Your union local has approached management about this issue. We feel that management needs to be explicit in what constitutes sufficient “experience” to qualify as a full time hire.
