Special General Membership Meeting happening June 17th via Zoom

You are invited to participate virtually in a special Local 354 General Membership Meeting (GMM) on Thursday, June 17th from 2-4 p.m.  This important meeting is for our union members only and will be held via Zoom.

Among the items on the agenda will be a by-election to fill the role of local president for the remainder of the term (until Spring 2022). Patricia Mongeon has been an untiring and fearless leader for our local but after taking a short leave of absence this year, she has decided to step back from the president’s role. Pat will remain a steward and continue to work with the executive and share her knowledge.

In accordance with the OPSEU constitution, only a current steward (including members of the local executive) can run for the role of president. Should the successful candidate or acclaimed person come from the ranks of the existing local executive, another by-election and vote may be required to fill the new vacancy.

In addition to the by-election(s), the meeting will also feature updates on bargaining and the employee wellness survey sent out last month. As always, if any members have an agenda item they would like to bring forward it can be emailed in advance to our administrative assistant Valerie at local354info@gmail.com. Items can also be added to the agenda during the meeting, but it will speed things along if we can have them in advance.

As well, members are welcome to submit motions directing the local to take specific action on items. Motions can also be made from the floor but to save time you can go to our website and download a Local Meetings Motion Form and submit it to the local ahead of time.

To join the GMM, please RSVP to local354info@gmail.com by Tuesday, June 15th.  A link to the virtual meeting will be sent out to all who RSVP’d on the day of the meeting.

As a reminder, only current members with signed membership cards may participate in official union business. If you are unsure of your membership status or whether you have signed your union card, please contact our office.
